Coaching Certifications
USA Hockey and the Coaching Education Program require both annual registration and certification to coach. All requirements must be completed before participating in any team activities.
USA Hockey Requirements
Register as a member of USA Hockey
- Annual fee: $52 plus any Affiliate Association fees, if applicable
Complete a background screening
- Required for all coaches
Complete Safe Sport Training
- Must be done every year
- Coaches cannot be added to a roster until this is complete
Complete online age-specific module(s)
- 6U/8U module: $20
- All other age levels: $25 each
- Each module only needs to be completed once per age level
- Must be completed prior to any team activities and before being rostered

Check Your Certification Status
Log in to your USA Hockey Membership Dashboard to view your current certification level and status, as well as any remaining requirements needed to be eligible to coach.
