Tier II Youth

The Tier II State Championship features youth teams from across Illinois competing for state titles and the opportunity to advance to USA Hockey District and National Championships. The tournament includes multiple age divisions and skill levels, with round robin play leading into the championship weekend.

The Tier II State Tournament is organized into three brackets for each age division: AA, A, and B. The Tier II Committee seeds all teams and builds the brackets.

Depending on the age group, teams play two or three rounds of single-elimination games. The top eight winners advance to a round-robin weekend, where each team plays four games.

At the end of round-robin play, the two teams with the most points advance to the State Championship Game. The champion is decided in a single game.

Once registration is open, a link will be available here as well as in the Registrations tab for club representatives to register their team for the State Championship.

State Tournament Registration Fee: $400

• 12U - $950
• 14U - $1,100
• 16U - $1,600
• 18U - $1,800

An exemption is required for a team to play in a tournament other than the Standard Team Placement structure. The exemption process closed on January 1, 2026.
