    Andrew Posthuma, a right-handed shooting left wing for the Hinsdale Central JV team, is naturally excited for the 2021-22 season – to play in front of fans with an electric stadium atmosphere.
    “I’m happy that my friends can finally come watch me play,” said Posthuma, 16, a junior who lives in Hinsdale, wearing uniform No. 25. “I think I give a pretty good example on behaving well in the locker room. I think that just being an older player on the team makes it easier for me to give advice to some of the other guys.”
    Posthuma, who formerly played for the Chicago Hawks, is a fast skater – and that certainly helps his offense. One of his career highlights was earning the MVP award at a tournament in Ann Arbor, Michigan. “I broke a scoring slump, scoring 4 times in 3 games over the course of that weekend,” he said.
    Another hockey memory was, well, off-the-ice. “Playing street hockey everyday possible with some people who lived on my street, every day we possibly could,” he said. “I remember trying to get through my homework as soon as I got home just so I could go out and play street hockey. 
“I credit those guys for helping me get to where I am today. Unfortunately, the guys who I played with (then) have moved away and I’ll probably never see them again. I would give a lot to be able to experience that again. Those were the days.”
